Hartpury University is celebrating the first anniversary of a momentous achievement for the award-winning institution.
On a proud day for Hartpury, the Privy Council announced on 13 September 2018 that it had approved its application for university title, alongside Hartpury College, after a stringent and rigorous assessment process.
Hartpury University and Hartpury College – based on the same speciaIist 360-hectare campus – have received a series of accolades in their continued pursuit of excellence since that historic occasion.
There are also a number of exciting building developments taking place on campus, including the completion of a new £8.8 million Sports Academy.
Russell Marchant, Vice-Chancellor of Hartpury University and Principal of Hartpury College, reflected: “Achieving university status had been a strategic ambition for us, for the previous six years.
“It was an incredible journey and we were excited to have finally reached our destination, especially as Hartpury College celebrated its 70th anniversary in the same year.
“University title recognises the quality of the teaching at Hartpury, which is also evidenced by our TEF Gold award, and the wide range of research projects in our specialist areas of Agriculture, Animal, and Equine and Sport.
“But time never stands still at Hartpury and we’re continually looking to explore fresh ways to provide our university and college students with the support and opportunities they need to fulfil their potential.
“Early this year, Olympic rowing champion Dame Katherine Grainger officially opened our new Sports Academy, while we’re looking forward to launching our state-of-the-art Agri-Tech Centre this autumn.
“Over the summer we took delivery of a superb racehorse simulator to help train the next generation of jockeys, while we’ve also just announced that we’re providing specialist support for the Great Britain dog agility team.
“So it’s an extremely exciting time to be studying at Hartpury, whether you’ve enrolled at Hartpury College at the age of 16, or working towards an undergraduate, postgraduate degree or a PhD at Hartpury University.”
