Hartpury University has announced an academic partnership with University Centre Weston (UCW), bringing together two TEF Gold higher education providers.

Under the new agreement, students who pass Foundation degrees in Sports Studies, Sports Studies (Football) and Animal Management delivered by UCW, will be awarded their degree by Hartpury University.

Hartpury University, home to more than 1,800 students, offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Sport, Equine, Animal, Agriculture and Veterinary Nursing, as well as postgraduate research and PhD qualifications.

It is the only educational institution in Gloucestershire to be awarded Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), which ranks providers based on their teaching and learning for students, putting it among the top higher education providers nationally.

Russell Marchant, Vice-Chancellor of Hartpury University, said: “We’re always seeking to develop partnerships with educational and commercial organisations that reflect our own mission and values.

“This helps us to extend and enhance learning and development opportunities related to our specialisms of animal, agriculture, equine, sport and veterinary nursing.

“As a fellow TEF Gold institution with a focus on employability and student support, UCW are the ideal partners to deliver two of our specialist foundation degrees.”

UCW, which also has a TEF Gold rating, offers more than 40 university-level courses across a range of subject areas, including creative and performance arts, digital technologies, education, engineering, healthcare and science.

Dr Paul Phillips CBE, the Principal and Chief Executive of the Weston College Group, said: “UCW is committed to providing an outstanding higher education experience, enabling success and inspiring ambition.

“UCW students on the Foundation degrees in Sports Studies, Sports Studies (Football) and Animal Management will benefit from this collaboration with Hartpury University in a number of ways, including access to fantastic facilities and student services at two top-rated higher education providers.”

The agreement between Hartpury University and UCW will be reviewed on an ongoing basis to ensure academic standards across both institutions are maintained.
