Hartpury College diploma students are celebrating more sporting success after winning a showcase golf tournament.

Daisy Kennedy and Julia Kerrigan, who are both studying Level 3 Extended Diploma Sport (Performance and Excellence) Golf, teamed up to win the British Schools and Colleges Ladies Open 2019.

Both members of the Golf Academy at Hartpury, Daisy and Julia shot a combined gross score of 144 – three shots ahead of runners-up Rossall Independent Boarding School – to land the prestigious title at the Forest of Arden.

This latest victory follows hard on the heels of Hartpury’s successes at the Intercollegiate Tour (ICT) finals and the AoC Sport Championships.

Matt Ellis, Golf Academy Manager at Hartpury, said: “We’re absolutely delighted that Daisy and Julia have won the British Schools and Colleges Ladies Open 2019 – it’s a tremendous achievement.

“They’re both extremely committed to improving all aspects of their game, alongside their academic studies, and it’s fantastic that their dedication and hard work on the practice grounds has been rewarded.

“It’s yet another great success for our golf programme at Hartpury and reflects really well on the quality of our student golfers, their coaches and the top-class facilities we’re able to provide.”

Golf students at Hartpury – one of the UK’s leading specialist education providers – have access to a wide range of facilities on campus, including a 10-bay indoor range, a 5x4m indoor putting green, a USGA short-game area and an outdoor artificial putting green.

Golf students can also access local courses and professionals on a regular basis, including the facilities at key partner Tewkesbury Park Golf Club.

Their practice sessions are tailored around their academic timetables to help them fulfil their potential in both areas.
