Students from Hartpury College have achieved outstanding A-level and BTEC results for another consecutive year, contributing to record-breaking exam results across the UK.

For the third consecutive year, 100% of A-level students achieved their qualifications, compared to a national average of 99.5%. Students achieved particularly impressive results, reflecting Hartpury’s commitment to outstanding teaching and learning – 92.9% were awarded grades A* - C, compared to an 88.5% national average.

BTEC Level 3 Diploma students also continued their legacy of strong performance, with 78.7% achieving Distinction or Distinction Star grades. Of these, 56.7% were awarded Triple Distinction Stars, the highest grade possible.

These results reflect students studying the college’s 14 A-level subjects including English, Mathematics and Science, as well as BTEC diplomas in agriculture, countryside management, land-based engineering, animal management and science, equine management and sport.

Students study a unique Hartpury College Certificate, providing numerous employability opportunities beyond their main qualification, enabling them to develop the knowledge, skills and experience that employers or universities are looking for.

Those on a dual pathway, training to be athletes as part of Hartpury’s Sports Academies alongside their qualification, are supported to balance their studies with their playing commitments.

The college is the world’s largest equine education facility and regularly wins national titles in rugby, football, netball, rowing, golf and modern pentathlon. Students benefit from a university on site, providing access to world-class facilities and expertise, as well as valuable insights into university courses and higher education culture.

Hartpury College Vice-Principal Claire Whitworth said: “I would like to congratulate all students and staff for their hard work and dedication over the last two years in support of this year’s results – a fantastic achievement, especially considering the global challenges everyone has faced over the last two years! Thank you also to all the parents and carers who provided fantastic support, as ever.

“Hartpury provides a unique environment in which to prepare students for their next steps, both academically and with wider life skills, such as confidence, resilience and independence. We have continued to provide valuable opportunities during the pandemic, albeit in a different way to a normal year, which has, no doubt, impacted these fantastic results.

“I wish all our completing students the best of luck with their future employment or university ventures here at Hartpury University or elsewhere.”
