Prof. Andy Collop appointed as Independent Non-Executive Director at British Eventing

Hartpury University and Hartpury College are proud to announce that Vice-Chancellor, Executive Principal and CEO, Professor Andy Collop has been appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director (INED) to the Board of British Eventing, the national governing body for the sport of eventing.

He joins three other newly appointed INEDs at an exciting time for British Eventing, as the organisation embarks on a period of transformation and strategic growth. He will bring to the role his extensive experience in higher education leadership, business strategy, and building strong partnerships across sport and industry.

Speaking of his appointment, Prof. Collop said: “I’m delighted to be joining the Board of British Eventing at such a pivotal time for the sport. Eventing has a proud heritage in the UK, and I look forward to working with colleagues to help shape its future – supporting growth, innovation, and participation at all levels. At Hartpury University and Hartpury College, we see first-hand the power of equestrian sport to inspire individuals and communities, and I’m excited to contribute to British Eventing’s journey.”

Prof. Collop has been at the helm of Hartpury since 2022, driving forward its vision to be a world-leading specialist institution for animal, agricultural, equine, sport, and veterinary nursing education. His leadership has supported Hartpury’s continued growth in student numbers, research impact, and industry partnerships, while ensuring the institution remains at the forefront of sport and equestrian development.

As part of his new role, Prof. Collop will serve on the British Eventing Limited Board, helping provide strategic oversight and guidance as the organisation works to enhance venues, embrace digital innovation, broaden participation, and build long-term sustainability for the sport.

Hartpury University and Hartpury College have a long-standing relationship with British Eventing, hosting the world-renowned NAF Five Star International Hartpury Horse Trials and British Championships which attracts elite riders and horses from across the globe. His appointment further strengthens the ties between Hartpury and the governing body, reinforcing the institution’s position at the heart of equestrian sport.
