Hartpury College backs new ‘Pass the Mark’ campaign to promote Access to Higher Education

Hartpury College is proud to support Pass the Mark — a new national initiative from the Cambridge Access Validating Agency (CAVA) designed to raise awareness of life-changing Access to Higher Education (HE) Diplomas.

Access to HE Diplomas are nationally recognised, one-year qualifications that help adults return to education, progress to university, or begin new careers — regardless of their background or starting point. They provide a practical and supportive route to higher education, helping learners grow in confidence and move on to degrees, careers, and futures they may never have thought possible.

Despite their impact, many people are still unaware that Access to HE exists. Pass the Mark aims to change that, using a simple yet powerful tool — a branded bookmark, both printed and digital — to spark conversations about Access to HE across colleges, universities, and communities.

Each campaign bookmark features a QR code linking to a dedicated campaign page, where visitors can learn more about Access to HE and its benefits, read inspiring student success stories and search for local courses.

Hartpury College, which offers two diplomas; the Access to HE Land-Based Studies and Access to HE Sports Studies, will help spread the word by sharing bookmarks with staff, students, and partners, as well as promoting the campaign online. The aim is to ensure more potential learners know that opportunities exist to return to education and progress to higher study. In addition, the Hartpury College Access to HE web page has information about available funding for learners.

Hannah Knight, Programme Leader for Access to HE Diplomas at Hartpury College, said: “We see first-hand the transformative impact Access to HE Diplomas can have on learners — opening doors to university and new careers. Supporting Pass the Mark is a simple but powerful way to help more people discover that these opportunities exist and to encourage them to take that first step.”
