Hartpury University and Hartpury Students’ Union are proud to announce the achievement of the SOS-UK Drug and Alcohol Impact accreditation. This milestone reflects a two-year commitment to fostering a safer, healthier campus environment by promoting responsible alcohol consumption and adopting a harm reduction approach to drug use.
The programme, led by Hartpury Students’ Union in collaboration with staff and external partners, focused on understanding student needs and designing tailored initiatives to educate, support, and reduce harm. Hartpury exceeded the required score for accreditation, achieving an impressive 275 points.
Key Achievements:
- Introduction of alcohol-free accommodation for 2024/2025, with plans to expand in 2025/2026.
- Adoption of a harm reduction approach in the updated Drug and Alcohol Policy.
- Launch of wellbeing drop-ins for drug and alcohol-related issues.
- Creation of events and activities to raise awareness and promote student support services.
- Collaboration with local organizations to enhance student safety in Gloucester.
SOS-UK commended Hartpury for its whole-institution approach, student involvement, and commitment to creating a positive and supportive environment for all students.
