Hartpury University and Hartpury College outreach teams travelled more than 1,000 miles in a single week to inspire the next generation of students during National Careers Week and Colleges Week.
Throughout the week, the team visited schools, colleges, and regional skills events, speaking with thousands of young people about future study options and career pathways across Hartpury’s specialist subject areas.
From Year 7 pupils exploring their first career ideas to sixth form students considering university and college courses, the team shared insights into Hartpury’s programmes, industry connections, and renowned sports academies.
The busy schedule saw Hartpury attend career fairs, skills shows, and mock interview sessions, offering advice on study pathways, career opportunities, and preparing for life beyond school.
Events attended during the week included:
- Moulton College Animal Career Fair
- Dean Close Career Fair
- Cannington College Career Fair
- Cirencester College Career Fair
- Archway School Mock Interviews
- Maidenhill School Career Fair
- Bridgwater College Career Fair
- Worcester Skills Show (#SkillsExpoWorcs)
- Moulton College Equine and Land-based Career Fair
- Newent Community School Career Fair
- Ludlow Sixth Form Career Fair
A particular highlight of the week was the Worcester Skills Show, where Hartpury representatives spoke with hundreds of students across two days about opportunities in sectors including agriculture, animal science, equine, sport, veterinary nursing, and business.
Supporting the outreach team throughout the week were Hartpury’s student ambassadors, who shared first-hand experiences of studying at Hartpury and the opportunities available both in and beyond the classroom.
Their involvement helped bring Hartpury’s courses and campus life to life for prospective students, offering valuable peer insights and inspiration.
Claire Whitworth, Principal of Hartpury College said: “National Careers Week and Colleges Week are fantastic opportunities for us to connect with young people and support them as they start to think about their future. Events like these allow us to speak directly with students about the many different pathways available to them, whether that’s further education, university study, or workplace-based training within our specialist industries.”
Andrew Graham, Student Recruitment and Outreach Manager at Hartpury University and College added: “I want to thank everyone involved in making this busy week such a success. Our student ambassadors play a huge role. Hearing directly from current students helps prospective learners understand what studying at Hartpury is really like.”
The outreach activity reflects Hartpury’s ongoing commitment to supporting young people in exploring career pathways and progressing into further and higher education.
