Hartpury University will host the second annual Canine and Companion Animal Student Conference on Saturday 18 April (9.30am - 5.00pm), bringing together students, academics and industry professionals for a day of knowledge-sharing and collaboration.
The conference provides a platform for undergraduate and postgraduate students to present their research, while also offering attendees the opportunity to engage directly with experts and organisations working across the animal and veterinary sectors.
A highlight of the event is its strong focus on industry engagement, giving Hartpury University students valuable insight into current practice and career pathways, as well as the chance to build professional networks alongside their studies.
The conference will feature three keynote speakers representing a range of specialisms within the sector:
· Selina Gibsone (Dogs for Good) - sharing insights from community dog projects and the role of dogs in supporting people
· Dr Helen Tedds (Hartpury University) - presenting PhD research into reptile husbandry and owner knowledge in the UK
· Debbie Anslow (Positive Pet Behaviour) - exploring co-operative care and collaboration within veterinary practice
Alongside the speaker programme, a range of industry stalls will be present throughout the day, enabling attendees to connect with practitioners, explore developments in the sector and gain further insight into professional opportunities.
Events such as this form an important part of the Hartpury student experience, combining academic study with real-world application and access to industry. By creating opportunities for students to present their work and engage with professionals, the conference supports the development of skills and knowledge valued by employers across the animal and veterinary sectors.
The conference is open to all, including students, practitioners and members of the public.
Tickets are priced at £15 and are available to purchase here.
