Sports Coaching Centre

Developing the future workforce of coaching

The Hartpury Coaching Centre, managed out of the Department of Sport, provides coach development and professional practice, supporting clubs, coaches, and students through dynamic learning opportunities. Our community of practice brings together experienced academic staff, students and regional partners to deliver innovative, impactful workshops and placement experiences that enhance coaching across sport and performance settings.

We use a blended learning approach – combining face-to-face delivery with interactive virtual workshops – to ensure flexible, inclusive, and high-quality development experiences. Within 2024-2025 season we delivered workshops on structure and development, coach behaviour, environment and culture as well as a keynote conference presentation.

  • Develop coach capability through practical workshops, CPD events, and bespoke training sessions—both face-to-face and online.
  • Provide access to student placements who bring fresh energy and skills to assist with coaching delivery, athlete support, and performance analysis.
  • Collaborate on research and innovation projects that address real-world coaching challenges and introduce evidence-based practice.
  • Support talent pathways by linking organisations with our studentship programme and postgraduate expertise.
  • Offer tailored consultancy to meet your specific organisational goals, including programme design, coach mentoring, and strategic planning.
  • Create a community of practice where organisations and coaches can share knowledge, resources, and best practice.

We are committed to working collaboratively to empower your coaches and athletes, helping your organisation thrive through sustainable, high-quality development opportunities.
