Equine Dental Science 10

Hartpury University announces new equine dentistry degree

Hartpury University has announced the return of equine dentistry to its portfolio of degrees, with a brand new BSc (Hons) Equine Dental Science accepting applications for September 2024.

The degree has been created to help students become a skilled Equine Dental Technician, incorporating a placement with a British Association of Equine Dental Technicians (BAEDT) mentor that will help individuals to develop practical skills in the field.

A variety of interesting modules will include topics such as head and dental anatomy, dental examination, nutrition, dental pathology and diagnostics, routine dental procedures, business management, sales and customer service. A well- thought out balance of dentistry and commercially focussed modules will enable students to develop their theoretical, practical, and business skills in order to set up and succeed in their chosen career.

Catherine Porter, Head of Equine at Hartpury University said: “We’re thrilled to introduce our brand-new BSc (Hons) Equine Dental Science degree, which will not only address the demand for specialisation in equine dental care, but also empower students to make a profound impact in the field of equine health and welfare.

“We’re particularly excited about balance between theoretical learning and practical on-the-job experience, and the valuable placement with a BAEDT Equine Dental Mentor.”
