Hartpury College has been awarded £4.6 million in Government funding to enhance its specialist Animal Management and Science facilities.
The funding has been awarded through the Department for Education’s Post-16 Capacity Fund, which supports further education providers to expand and improve facilities for 16–19-year-old learners. It will enable Hartpury College to further develop its specialist facilities for students studying Animal Management and Science, helping to ensure learners have access to high-quality environments and resources that support practical, technical and industry-focused education.
The improvements will strengthen Hartpury’s ability to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to progress into further study, employment and the wider land-based and animal-related industries.
Hartpury’s ongoing investment creates a unique opportunity to help meet local, regional and national skills needs. The employer-led Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) clearly identifies Gloucestershire’s skills need for ‘Agriculture, Agri-Tech and Land Management’, aligning with animal health, science and husbandry, as well as cross-cutting themes of core and soft skills, core digital skills, skills for technological change, and green skills. This investment will accelerate Hartpury’s role in supporting these skills priorities helping to both attract and retain talent within Gloucestershire.

The project forms part of Hartpury’s ongoing investment in its further education provision and commitment to developing the skills needed by employers and industries across the region and beyond.
