Career Overview

I joined Hartpury as a teaching assistant in 2019 in the Animal department whilst studying for my MRes in Equestrian Performance, and became a full-time member of staff in 2021. I have taught across Animal, Agriculture and Equine, as well as some Sports students.


I have now made the move to being a full-time student, as I am taking on the PhD studentship in Equine as of Jan 2024.

Teaching and supervision

I lead 6 modules across 4 departments:

  • L3 Foundation Animal Studies
  • L3 Foundation Biological Principles
  • L4 Animal Genetics
  • L4 Managing Equine Wellbeing
  • L5 Professional Practice Portfolio
  • L5 Professional Practice Project

I am on the teaching team on the following:

  • L4 Intro to Livestock Science
  • L4 Skills Development for Agriculture
  • L4 Sustainable Agriculture
  • L5 Animals in Education
  • L6 Wildlife Conservation in Captivity

I have guest lectures in:

  • L5 Managing Animal Wellbeing
  • L4 Equine Genetics

As well as supervise students for undergrad dissertations.

Research interests

My research interests are Genetics and Paralympic dressage classification.

I have recently published a collaborative paper with the FEI (International Governing Body of equestrian sport) and UCLAN looking to evidence the classification system of para-dressage athletes, alongside colleagues in the sport and equine departments.
