Hartpury University RFC are currently one of the top 24 clubs in England and have been instrumental in furthering the development of talented rugby players studying at Hartpury.
The RFC has also produced full internationals for England, Ireland, Wales, and Italy as well as some of the emerging rugby nations, such as Canada, Georgia and Zimbabwe. Offering talented players the chance to experience a professional rugby club atmosphere, we have established an outstanding track record of developing players alongside furthering their education.
Our Margaret Giffen Centre for Rider Performance is the most advanced centre of its kind at an academic institution. It provides the perfect place for students to develop real-world expertise and undertake exciting research, using world-leading equipment and with access to leading industry experts.
The centre is designed to develop the evidence base behind horse-rider partnerships. Technologies include Racewood eventing and horseracing simulators, Qualisys 3D motion capture and electromyography, a dedicated strength and conditioning gym for riders and an athlete sports therapy treatment area.
Our Equine Therapy Centre provides the base for exciting research around the rehabilitation of horses at a range of levels, undertaken by students and staff at all levels, that's shaping equine therapy and rehabilitation across the globe.
The Equine Therapy Centre offers treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions using a combination of the most up-to-date facilities, physical therapy and techniques in veterinary medicine. Since 1999, the centre has helped thousands of horses achieve their full potential whatever their role in life.
Knowledge exchange is vital for driving the agriculture industry forwards. Our £2m Agri-Tech Centre provides a hub for farmers and food producers to share knowledge and ideas for best practice. We hope this will be the catalyst that sparks new innovations to benefit everyone in the sector.
The centre has been developed in partnership with GFirst LEP. Complementing existing agricultural projects in Gloucestershire, the centre includes unique demonstration, bio-security and livestock areas to showcase the potential of smart farming.
At Hartpury Medical Centre, our highly qualified staff are driven to help patients overcome their injuries. We offer expert assessment and a treatment programme tailored to individual needs, whether that’s going back to sport or other outdoor activities, or simply helping to improve mobility and quality of life.
Patients can benefit from Hartpury’s outstanding facilities as well as expert diagnosis, manual therapy, massage, electrotherapy and rehabilitation, as well as exercise plans to do at home and in the gym.
Boasting some of the most advanced sports equipment in the world, our biomechanics and human performance laboratories support our students in developing their impact-driven research and athletes in maintaining their peak physical fitness.
Working with a range of sports, including football, rugby and rowing, our staff use scientific tests to monitor athletes’ performance. Equipment includes an altitude chamber, anti-gravity treadmill, 3D-cameras, digital mirrors and more.
The Hartpury Sports Business Hub, managed out of the Department of Sport and Exercise Science, provides students and staff the opportunity to engage with key local and regional sports organisations to complete live briefs and real-world research consultancy. This project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
