Forest Green Rovers FC and Hartpury University unveil exciting, funded postgraduate studentship

Forest-Green-Rovers

Forest Green Rovers FC have partnered with Hartpury University to offer a fully funded part-time place on its MSc Applied Performance Analysis degree, which includes an exciting two-year industry work placement as a Data Analyst within the club.

The studentship bursary will cover all the MSc course fee costs and in exchange, the successful applicant will work within the first team environment at Forest Green Rovers. Working closely with match analysts and sports scientists, the candidate will manage, analyse and manipulate data collected from GPS, fitness testing and player statistics.

The individual will also provide insight on seasonal trends of both team and player, reporting for the director of football on recruitment needs.

The data analyst and recruitment role will involve two training days per week and will require attendance at match days that may run over weekends on bank holidays. Based predominantly at Hartpury University and Forest Green Rovers, the role may involve some trave to other sites across England.

Luke Brick, Lecturer in Sports Performance Analysis at Hartpury University, said: “We’re committed to offering students a variety of opportunities to gain industry experience and we’re delighted that our friends at Forest Green Rovers can offer this prestigious placement opportunity.

“This studentship offers a chance to gain invaluable experience across both performance analysis and sport science departments.

“The position is a dream role for anyone wanting to gain real-world experience in an elite and modern football environment while also studying a funded postgraduate degree at a leading UK university.”

Previous experience within a professional sporting environment is preferred but not essential and applicants should be able to commit to the entire 2022/23 season.

The studentship will start this September and applications for the role close on 27 June 2022. Students can apply to study the MSc Applied Performance Analysis degree at the same time. Interviews will be held during the week of 4 July 2022. Only successful applicants to the MSc in Applied Performance Analysis in Sport at Hartpury University starting in September this year will be eligible for the work placement with Forest Green Rovers FC Academy.

The successful candidate may be expected to start their placement during pre-season. This will be discussed during interview. View the full studentship role description here.
