Gloucester Hartpury RFC has been recognised for its outstanding success on and off the field after winning two major honours at the inaugural Gloucestershire Lifestyle & Community Awards 2026.
The club was named Sports Team/Club of the Year before also receiving the evening’s top accolade, the overall Lifestyle & Community Winner of the Year award, during the ceremony celebrating organisations and individuals making a positive impact across the county.
Supported by headline partners Pro Global and Made in Gloucestershire, the awards brought together finalists, community organisations, and businesses from across the region, with winners selected following a combination of public voting and judging panel decisions.
The recognition follows another remarkable period for Gloucester Hartpury, who have established themselves as one of the leading teams in women’s rugby, securing three consecutive Premiership Women’s Rugby titles and continuing to inspire supporters across Gloucestershire and beyond.
Mick Axtell, Director of Gloucester Hartpury and Chief Operating Officer at Hartpury University and Hartpury College, said: “I’m shocked, to be honest.
“The team has been amazing with three back-to-back championships, and we’re in the semi-finals again on Sunday 14 June. We hope the community can come and support us at Queensholm.”
The awards recognise not only Gloucester Hartpury’s achievements in elite sport, but also the club’s wider contribution to the local community, inspiring the next generation of players and helping to grow the profile of women’s rugby throughout the region.
The partnership between Gloucester Rugby and Hartpury University and Hartpury College has created a well-respected development pathway into the professional game for talented student-athletes and those looking to work in support and coaching roles.
Gloucester Hartpury now turn their attention back to Premiership Women’s Rugby action as they prepare for their upcoming semi-final at Kingsholm Stadium.
