Gold, Bronze and a course record for Hartpury rowers

Hartpury rowers enjoyed an outstanding start to May, securing medals, a course record and a series of impressive performances at both the BUCS Regatta and Junior Sculling Regatta.

At the BUCS Regatta, Eva Bolton-Lake (BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Nutrition) claimed a bronze medal in the Women’s Beginner Single event following a strong performance against university competition from across the country.

Hartpury athletes Fleur Eastman (MSc Sports Management), Georgia Gribble (BSc (Hons) Veterinary Nursing), Amelie Williams (BSc (Hons) Animal Behaviour and Training (Clinical)) and Sam Fowkes (BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Nutrition) also represented the programme in the beginner university events, gaining valuable racing experience at one of the UK’s leading student rowing competitions.

Meanwhile, at the prestigious Junior Sculling Regatta, Hartpury crews delivered several standout performances, led by A-level students Max Fullman and Alex Judd, who secured gold in the Championship Double Scull while also setting a new course record.

The success continued across multiple championship categories, highlighting the depth and strength of Hartpury’s rowing programme.

Several Hartpury athletes competing across the weekend are also recognised as British Rowing Pathway Athletes, underlining the programme’s continued success in developing young rowing talent.

Tom Jenkinson, Lead Rowing Coach at Hartpury University and Hartpury College, said: “It was fantastic to see so many of our rowers performing strongly across two major regattas over the weekend. The results reflect the commitment and hard work the crews have shown throughout the season.

“Max and Alex setting a course record alongside winning gold was a particularly special achievement, while Eva’s medal performance at BUCS was another excellent result for the programme.

“We are equally proud of the performances across all age groups, with athletes continuing to develop valuable racing experience at national level competitions.”

Hartpury’s Rowing Academy continues to provide athletes with opportunities to compete at the highest level alongside their academic studies, with a strong track record of athlete development and national success.
