Animal diplomas

Health, management and behaviour

Hartpury offers a dedicated environment for you to work with animals and develop the practical skills, qualifications and experience that employers are looking for. Our unique Hartpury College Certificate will enable you to develop your employability and independence alongside your studies.

Our facilities for both animal management and animal science students are outstanding, with over 70 animal species on our beautiful 360-hectare campus. This includes reptiles, invertebrates, domestic and non-domestic species, as well as livestock. On top of this, we have laboratories, a dedicated aquatics room and enclosures where students can work with meerkats, emus, wallabies and rare-breed goats.

You’ll be supported by a team of experienced and enthusiastic lecturers with a range of knowledge of the industry, including animal technicians and groomers.

Our level 3 diploma students have a fantastic opportunity to go on a residential study tour to Borneo. Students also benefit from external speakers and extra-curricular visits, including to zoos and rescue centres.

Studying subjects such as animal health, biology, handling and husbandry means you can pursue a wide range of career opportunities or progress on to university, plus there are opportunities to gain practical and work experience with a variety of animal-related organisations.

If you want to become a vet our new animal science diploma provides a great alternative route to prepare you for going on to study veterinary medicine and animal science at university.
