Living in on-site college accommodation at Hartpury, you’ll be part of a vibrant and international community of students of all ages who share their experience of life at college and university together on one campus.

Living on our campus

Worried about giving up your home comforts? Our cosy student halls have all the essentials and comforts you’ll need. There are lots of events and activities held throughout the week and our Heroes Lounge offers a cosy social space to relax and enjoy time with your friends.

You’ll also have access to state of the art facilities including sport centres, a gym, library, coffee shop, and restaurants, including our new Graze facility, where a wide variety of good value hot meals, snacks and refreshments are available during the day.

With support from 24-hour Residential Support Assistants, seven days a week and a dedicated accommodation and welfare team, you can rest assured that your time at Hartpury College will be a safe and enjoyable experience

Can I apply to live on site?

You can apply for accommodation if you're an A-level student or Level 3 diploma student.*

To support a fair process of allocation, we do have groups who are given priority, which include (in no particular order):

  • Students on a recognised two year programme returning for year two
  • International students (home country)
  • Students studying agriculture, animal or equine programmes
  • Students who keep their horse in on-site livery
  • Students who to play sport in one of our Sports Academies.

*Students who are able to travel on public or college transport will only be allocated accommodation if rooms are still available after 31 August.

Accommodation options

Whether it is your first time away from home, or you’re a seasoned traveller, there are options to suit you and your lifestyle while studying at Hartpury. All college room rates include breakfast (Mon-Fri) and five main meals to be taken any lunchtime or evening, Sunday-Saturday. Adapted rooms are available. The room rate is inclusive of all utility bills and Wi-Fi.

We have four halls of residences to choose from for our college students. You can find more information on our halls below.

Dingle Halls of Residence

Male and female floors, twin occupancy

Dingle Hall accommodates up to 175 students. Common rooms are equipped with a fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave, easy chairs and large screen TVs. This hall is specifically designed for under-18s and offers en-suite accommodation with single beds. Residential support staff are located in the building.

Rudgeley Halls of Residence

Single occupancy under 18

Rudgeley Hall accommodates 323 students in 17 blocks. The Halls are set around two attractive landscaped quadrangles. Each Rudgeley building has two small common rooms, one on each floor. Common rooms are equipped with a fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave and easy chairs. These halls are specifically designed for under-18s and the buildings are single sex and offer single en-suite accommodation.

Catsbury Hall

Twin occupancy, male and female floors

Catsbury Hall has three floors with rooms having twin beds. All rooms have their own washbasin and each floor has toilets and showers. There are communal areas on each floor which are equipped with a fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave and table. There are also two large common rooms with flat screen TVs. Residential support staff are located in the building.

New Vicarage Halls of Residence

Single occupancy for under and over 18s available and offer single en-suite accommodation

There are five buildings located on campus within the New Vicarage Halls of Residence, housing 100 students. Each building has a common room equipped with a fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave.

Student accommodation code

We have been awarded the Universities UK Student Accommodation Code of Practice. 

By joining The Code we are audited every three years to confirm that our accommodation management practices are up to high standards. We are committed to raising the standards of student accommodation.

Parent sign-out

Our Residential Support team perform regular checks to ensure student wellbeing and safety. If you intend to leave campus overnight, it is important that your parents or guardians let us know by completing the form below. This prevents you appearing on the Evening Registration Report and removes the need for our Residential Support team to contact you and your young parents or guardians after 10:30pm.

Term dates

When will I have to leave?

Our rooms are term time only. You'll be asked to leave your room for the Christmas holiday periods. It is important to note that when you vacate, your room must be cleared of all belongings.

Self-study weeks

Self-study weeks take the place of college half-terms in October and February. We encourage students to go home for these periods to enable them to rest and recuperate away from the college environment. However, you have the flexibility to choose when you leave for the holiday period. The same applies for the return date, students can return to accommodation at a time to suit them. Students will be able to leave their belongings in their rooms during study week.

We recognise that assistance dogs provide invaluable support to individuals with a range of disabilities and in response welcomes accredited Assistance Dogs registered with Assistance Dogs UK or one of their partner agencies on campus including residential accommodation.
