T Levels are set to become one of the main choices after GCSEs. Developed with employers and educational providers, these two-year ‘technical programmes’ give students the applied skills that industries need.

With a T Level, you’ll gain a high-quality education and heaps of practical skills. This will open a clearly defined route into further study or a skilled role within our related land-based industries. As a new qualification, here are some answers to the most frequently asked T Level questions.

Why study a T Level?

The key benefit of completing a T level is the sheer amount of on-the-job experience it includes. You’ll spend 20% of your time – that’s 45 days or nine weeks – gaining first-hand experience of your chosen career whilst developing the practical skills that employers are looking for. That’s in addition to the outstanding education you’ll gain in the classroom.

Which T Levels can I study at Hartpury College?

Hartpury College is one of the first providers to deliver T Levels in Livestock Production, Crop Production, and Land-Based Engineering. We'll be adding T Levels in our animal and equine subject areas in future years.

A T Level qualification is worth the same amount of UCAS points as three A-levels. When you finish your T Level, you'll be well-equipped with the practical skills and expertise to enter employment within a technical role or further specialise at university, helping to create a stronger economy and a more sustainable future.

T Level transition

If you’re not quite ready for a T Level, our one-year transition courses (subject to change) could be for you. You'll study a blend of Level 2 and 3 modules to develop your specialist knowledge, gain hands-on expertise and study skills, focus on your personal development, and undertake work experience in industry. On successful completion, you could progress onto your chosen T Level, an apprenticeship, or into related employment.
