This is for those who are looking for a more detailed understanding of a broad range of subjects relating to the animal management industry. Our large and varied animal collection of exotic and domestic species offer excellent practical hands-on learning opportunities alongside theory-based lessons.
During this programme, you will be expected to undertake a block of work experience which will allow you to broaden your knowledge, understanding and skills in practical industry live situations.

Career and education opportunities
On successful completion of this course at Merit or Distinction level and a suitable reference from a tutor, you are able to progress onto the second year of the Level 3 Diploma in Animal Management.
Career opportunities include:
• Kennel or cattery worker
• Pet shop manager
• Veterinary assistant or receptionist
• Animal collection worker or technician
• Carer or warden within charity organisations such as the RSPCA or Blue Cross
• Dog handler or trainer

2 GCSEs at grade 4 or above to include English Language and either Mathematics or a Science.
If you want to work with animals, then Hartpury offers a dedicated environment to provide you with the practical skills, qualifications and experience employers are looking for to succeed in this thriving industry.
Once we receive your application, we will write and invite you to attend an interview and written assessment with a member of staff on your chosen course. The interview is an opportunity to discuss the course content, ask any questions you may have and go on a tour of the campus.
