If you’re looking for a career in the coaching or teaching industries – or hoping to progress onto a higher education sports degree, then this course provides an excellent foundation for your development towards your goals.
You will learn through a mix of theory based and practical sessions to give you a solid grounding in all aspects of sports coaching.
All students will complete a ten-week placement at a local primary school, where you will deliver physical education lessons to pupils of all ages.

• Anatomy and Physiology
• Sports Leadership
• Coaching for Performance
Industry experience
As well as the ten-week placement, you will have further opportunities to gain experience in leadership and coaching roles through academic and voluntary work, specifically through volunteer placements.
Career and education opportunities
If you successfully complete this course, you can progress onto the second year of the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport (Physical Education and Coaching) programme (subject to a successful interview and tutor recommendation).
Our students have gone on to some fantastic careers in a wide range of industries and enjoyed some exceptional work placements all over the world, helping them open doors to their dream careers.
2 GCSEs at grade 4 or above to include English Language and either Mathematics or a Science.
We will accept applicants with a grade 3 in English Language, provided they have achieved a grade 4 or above in English Literature.

Once we receive your application, we will write and invite you to attend an interview and written assessment with a member of staff on your chosen course. The interview is an opportunity to discuss the course content, ask any questions you may have and go on a tour of the campus.
