Student wellbeing

When you become a student at Hartpury, you become part of something bigger, part of a community. That aspect of our student experience was recognised by Ofsted in 2019 when they rated our pastoral care and support for residential students – most of whom are living away from home for the first time – as outstanding.

At Hartpury, there’s a network of support staff to ensure that you make a smooth transition from school to college life. You’ll be assigned a personal tutor as soon as you arrive, who is there to provide you with all the support you need to reach your academic goals.

If you need a friendly ear, our Student Services and Wellbeing Teams can help with guidance and advice on everything from finance and accommodation to health and wellbeing.

Emotional problems and stress can affect your studies. If students are having difficulties support is available from the Wellbeing Centre who offer a daily term-time drop-in at 11:30am and 3:30pm (Mon to Fri) and can refer students to our onsite Student Counselling Service or our Student Assistance Programme.

The Wellbeing and Counselling Service teams provide wellbeing support and free short term counselling, as well as signposting and connecting students with other services where appropriate.

Students and staff are actively encouraged to let the safeguarding team know about any concerns they might have about young people on campus. Hartpury University and Hartpury College also has a designated safeguarding lead.

The Wellbeing Chaplain will help with spiritual and faith issues. They offer space for quiet reflection or prayer and can also offer information about faith communities in the local area.
