Access to Higher education Diploma - Sport Studies

Daniel Garton

Daniel moved back to the UK from Switzerland which meant he didn't quite have the qualifications to get into university, so he chose to study the Access to Higher Education in Sports Studies course. He's now in his final year of the BSc (Hons) Sports Business Management course at Hartpury University, and works as the Engagement Officer at Hartpury Students' Union.

"Starting my journey to university on the Access to Higher Education course was invaluable in preparing me, as the style of teaching and assignments are very similar to university level. The two-week placement helped me gain industry knowledge which was also highly useful towards my university course.

The course offered a lot of flexibility as I got to spend my free time working at the student bar, and it aided significantly in providing me with the confidence and drive to apply for a role at the Hartpury Students' Union during my university studies."

If you're looking to study for a degree but don't yet have the qualifications you need, an Access to Higher Education (HE) diploma could be for you. Similar to A-levels, Access to HE diplomas are full level 3 qualifications.

Around 40,000 students take advantage of this entry route to university every year. Access to HE diplomas can be completed in one year and provide you with the knowledge, skills and qualifications to move onto university study.
