The experienced Innovation, Careers and Enterprise Centre team provides careers advice and guidance, professional, work and skills-based courses, employability and enterprise opportunities as well as enrichment activities and placement support.

We can help you to become the best you can be, not only within your academic study but by supporting you to develop experiences and skills that will ensure you stand out when entering the workplace or apply for university.

We have excellent partnerships and networks with the industries we serve and academic staff who are also practitioners in their field of expertise.

The campus itself hosts professional and commercial activity in all of our key sectors, giving students valuable opportunities to get involved and see industry working first hand.

Careers advice and support

The Innovation Careers and Enterprise offer information, advice and guidance and workshops to support students with all aspects of their career goals.

Whether you want to enhance your employability skills, talk through career options, sharpen up your CV, write a covering letter or practice your interview skills, we can help.

Opportunities are sometimes available for part-time jobs on-site too and for volunteering at Hartpury or with charities and other organisations, helping students to build skills and enhance their employability. These are advertised through the Innovation, Careers and Enterprise centre and the Students’ Union.

Real world and work experience

The Innovation, Careers and Enterprise Centre holds a database of employers and regularly advertises opportunities for students to gain experience in the workplace either as a placement, volunteering or as paid work. Students can also come and meet the the Placements team at any time.

We have ongoing relationships with 2,000 local and national businesses offering work placement opportunities.

External placements vary in length and we have additional onsite opportunities for Hartpury Students to work at the Equine Therapy Centre, the Equine Centre and with the Sports Academies.

Every student is assigned a placement tutor to support and prep them for success through our tutorial programme. They act as a central contact throughout their work placement.

Enterprise Launchpad

Hartpury’s Innovation, Careers and Enterprise centre also specialises in supporting you to develop entrepreneurial skills and mindset. This development will help you to consider an alternative career path such as running your own business or just add more capability to your skillset.

We offer you 1:1 business advisor consultations in our dedicated business center located in the ICE. Here you will meet business professionals who will encourage you to explore your business ideas as well as encouraging involvement in enterprise activities, projects, workshops and seminars.

Hartpury is the perfect place to start-up your business, and why wait until you have left to begin? ICE has an Enterprise Launchpad which is physical space available for you begin operating your business in combination with a host of eager external business contacts who are looking forward to working with students.

Each year we hold annual Enterprise Finals, where students with business ideas can pitch their idea to professionals, receive feedback and have the opportunity to win a kickstarter cash fund to begin your business in the Enterprise Launchpad.
