The Hartpury Certificate

Enhance your qualification

The Hartpury Certificate

We're committed to helping our students develop holistically. That's why everyone studying a Hartpury College course will complete the unique Hartpury Certificate as part of their studies. This helps our students to stand out from the crowd when applying for university or starting their career.

The Hartpury Certificate supports our A-level and BTEC diploma students to develop academic and employment expertise, alongside key life skills such as confidence, independence, and resilience through the below areas.

Career planning

As part of the Hartpury Certificate, students are encouraged to work with our Innovation, Careers and Enterprise team to help explore their career options, work out their goals and make a plan to achieve them. Our careers team have connections to over 2,000 employers across the globe.

Employability skills

A key part of the Hartpury Certificate is completing a work placement or work experience. Every student will complete an external work placement or work experience to help them prepare for the world of work. As well as opportunities within our commercial businesses on campus, students make the most of our connections with over 2,000 employers.

Hartpury Certificate Plus enrichment activities

Timetables are specially designed to include dedicated time for enrichment activities. This gives students opportunities to gain experience in a new area, in preparation for their next steps.

A-level activities could include completing a pre-veterinary qualification to support progression into a veterinary medicine or science degree, special interest clubs like debating and astronomy, as well as recreational and competitive sports.

BTEC students will also have time to take part in enrichment activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh award, Enterprise, workshops for CV building and mindfulness, or volunteering programmes within the community or with events held at Hartpury.

There are plenty of extra curriculum activities to help our students stand out from the crowd.

Commercial experience on campus

Our students work in teams as part of their studies to develop core skills in a supported environment. They learn how to manage our commercial farm, animal collection, livery yard and sports facilities - excellent preparation for their careers.

We also host international events on campus - from equine and sports to UKA dog agility. Students have plenty of opportunities to volunteer to help boost their CV.

Maths and English

Alongside core qualifications, students will progress GCSE-level qualifications in Maths and English to develop their numeracy and literacy skills, ready for their next steps. This is for those upskilling Maths and English from school.

The commercial know-how of Hartpury students is outstanding; they are students who are extraordinarily driven in their chosen futures. Hartpury is clearly giving them a lot.
