What is Clearing?
Clearing is a process that gives students the opportunity to find a course at university if they haven’t managed to secure one yet. If you haven't yet applied to university, you have changed your mind about your current course choice, or your circumstances have changed, then you can use Clearing to find alternative courses to study for September 2019.

When does Clearing start?
At Hartpury, you don’t have to wait until A-level results day – we’re accepting Clearing applications and offering places through Clearing now, so do get in touch.

Am I eligible for Clearing?
You can apply for an undergraduate course through Clearing if:

  • you didn’t receive your expected grades and your offers have not been confirmed.
  • you haven’t applied for university but would like to start in September 2019
  • you would like to apply for a different course or university than you have previously chosen on your UCAS application

I haven’t met the conditions of my Firm or Insurance offers – am I now in Clearing?
Yes, if you’ve been rejected by both your firm and Insurance choices, you’ll be placed into Clearing by UCAS – you’ll be able to check this status via UCAS Track.

How can I find out what courses I can apply to at Hartpury via Clearing and what the entry requirements are?

I haven’t had my results yet but I'm interested in applying to Hartpury through Clearing – what do I need to do?

How do I contact Hartpury to apply for a Clearing place?

I've been accepted at another university but I’ve changed my mind and I am interested in Hartpury instead – what do I do?
We are happy to discuss your options with you; call us on +44 (0) 1452 702 333. If you have already applied to university and had your place confirmed but would like to change your course or university it may be possible do so. Firstly you will need to make sure there is space on the course at the university you’d like to apply to and that they are willing to accept you. You will then need to be released from your firm choice in order to enter Clearing. You can do this through UCAS Track. You cannot go back to your initial selection once you have been released from a place at a university so it’s important you are sure about your decision. A release from your unconditional firm will not automatically allow you to go to your insurance choice.

Hartpury has made me a verbal offer – what happens next?
If you are made a verbal offer over the telephone, this will then be followed up with a confirmation email. Please ensure you check your inbox and spam folder just in case. The email will detail the next steps you will need to take. This may include providing proof of any qualifications you mentioned over the phone and selecting Hartpury (H22) and the relevant course as your Clearing choice on UCAS Track. In some instances there may be other conditions attached such as submission of a fitness for practice form – you will be advised of this in your telephone conversation and it will also be detailed in the email you receive from us. How many verbal offers can I hold?
There is no limit to how many universities you can contact or hold verbal offers with, but each one may have a time limit and you’ll only be able to accept one through UCAS.

I applied to Hartpury earlier this year but didn’t get offered a place. Can I apply again for this course through Clearing?
You won’t usually be able to re-apply for a course where you have been unsuccessful within the same academic cycle, unless any of the information you have previously provided to us has since changed. You are welcome to contact us regarding an alternative course however or discuss your options with us.

Do I have to apply through UCAS?
All students wanting to study an undergraduate degree course must apply via UCAS.

Can I apply for student accommodation if I come through Clearing?
Accommodation is still available although choices are limited. Please call our Accommodation Office on +44 (0) 1452 702 352 for the most up to date information and advice.

Will changing my university and my course affect my Student Finance?
No, but it is advised you contact Student Finance to advise them of this change to avoid any delays in funding reaching you.

I’m already holding an offer at Hartpury but want to change course – can I do this?
If you have a place at Hartpury starting in September 2019 but wish to change your course we would be happy to talk to you about your option, please contact us on +44 (0) 1452 702 333. If you meet the relevant entry requirements and there are still places available, the admissions team will advise on how to change your course.

I’m holding an offer with Hartpury and I’ve got my results but my UCAS Track hasn’t been updated to show my place is confirmed – why is this?
There could be a few reasons why this is. If you have taken qualifications other than A-levels or BTECs, we may not have received confirmation of your results and therefore you will need to send a copy to us. Please send them to admissions@hartpury.ac.uk.
It is also useful to check the conditions of your offer which will be detailed on UCAS Track. It may be that there are other outstanding conditions you still need to meet. If you are unsure, please call us on +44 (0) 1452 702 333.

How do I know that a degree at Hartpury is right for me?
Doing your own research and seeking a range of advice is the best way to ensure you leave university with a degree to be proud of. Our academic teaching staff are on hand to speak to you during the Clearing process to find out more about your course(s) of interest alongside the information available on our website. You can also visit Hartpury to see the campus and facilities during our Clearing Discover Hartpury Events.

Can I visit Hartpury during Clearing and before I decide whether or not to accept my offer?
Of course, we'd love to meet you. And we have set up a series of Discover Hartpury Events so we can do just that and to give you the opportunity to visit our stunning 360-hectare campus.

I’ve been told I need to undergo a Fitness for Practice form for the course I want to join – how do I do this?
Once you have accepted your offer Hartpury will send the forms and relevant instructions to you (if this applies to your course).

I’m not available to call or email the university – can a friend or relative do this on my behalf?
Due to Data Protection purposes, we can only discuss general information with someone other than an applicant. The exception to this is if you have a nominated person detailed on your UCAS application and they call on your behalf. If you think you’ll need to enquire about a Clearing place, you are strongly advised to be available to do this.

Hartpury was my first choice but I haven’t achieved the grades I was expecting, what can I do?
Please login to your UCAS Track to check your status or call the Hartpury team on +44 (0) 1452 702 333. Occasionally we are able to accept students who don’t quite achieve the grades they are hoping for, or alternatively we might want to talk to you about an alternative course. If so we are able to make a ‘changed course offer’ which means we are offering you a place on a different course. You will need to accept this through UCAS track. I am an International Student, can I apply through Clearing?
Yes we welcome applications from students from all parts of the world. Please call the Hartpury team on +44 (0) 1452 702 333 to discuss your application as each application is looked at on an individual basis.

I may require learning support while studying at Hartpury, can you support me during my studies?
We have a learning support team at Hartpury who will be happy to talk to you.
Many of our students have additional learning support to help them to achieve and do the best they can. By working with you we can find out how best to support you and help your move to Hartpury University to be as smooth and easy as possible.
