Man's Best Friend: The Therapeutic Realm Beyond Comfort

To launch the new Master’s Degree in Animal Assisted Counselling and Psychotherapy at Hartpury University we welcome Dr Aubrey Fine to share his journey in Animal Assisted Services.

This postgraduate course, delivered by Hartpury University, has been designed for those already qualified as Psychologists and Counsellors to develop their understanding and expertise in utilising Animal Assisted Services (AAS) within their practice.

The programme provides a broad basis on the roles and responsibilities of working with animals in human mental healthcare, whilst also providing you with opportunities to focus on your specific interests within the field.

 

 

About Dr Aubrey Fine

 

Dr. Fine is a native of Montreal, Canada, received his graduate degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1982. He has been on the California State Polytechnic University faculty since 1981 where he is presently a Professor Emeritus and a licensed psychologist, and is also an Adjunct Professor in the College of Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine at Utah State University. Aubrey has been recognized by numerous organizations for his service and dedication to children, animals, teaching, and the community. 

Aubrey’s primary research interests relate to the psycho-social impact of human-animal interactions and animal-assisted interventions, social skills training and, children with ADHD, and resilience in children.
