I got to see so many cases treated by our therapists and the Three Counties Vets while working at their Equine Therapy Centre. I loved seeing the rider work with the therapists and vets to rehabilitate the injured horse. It was so amazing to see.
Our graduates go on to some incredible careers, with many running their own successful businesses too.
Being a student at Hartpury gave me a wide-ranging understanding of the industry that I may not otherwise have had the opportunity to develop.
Work experience is very important. Networking, getting out there and showing people your face and going to places that aren’t necessarily home. I think it’s important to do a wide variety of things, taking part in extras outside the academic programme.
At Hartpury, it doesn’t matter what your background is, you all come together into the Hartpury family.
Hartpury is an amazing place with an amazing campus. You really get to know the people around you and make a close family.
Everything I needed was on site from the fantastic agriculture facilities, to the farm and the classrooms being so close together. Having access to all the other facilities at Hartpury meant that I was exposed to all the different industries and what they did too.
I’m passionate about driving change in agriculture in three critical areas of consumer education, farmer wellbeing and animal welfare.
It’s great to be in the classroom one minute and then in overalls and boots the next; down on the farm having the current lecture demonstrated to us in a practical sense.
I’ve been able to develop my business alongside my studies, thanks to the fantastic support I’ve received from the Enterprise Hub and Innovation, Careers and Enterprise team. I even reached the Enterprise Awards finals, which has given me the funds to develop further.
