Course Overview
If you've completed the Level 3 Extended Certificate in Equine Management Equitation (Riding), this course follows on from that. The course will give you the opportunity to progress further with your studies and continue to enhance your theory based knowledge and practical skills by utilising the outstanding equine facilities on campus.
You'll be involved in the daily care of the horses through yard duties which will develop the practical skills necessary to gain employment within the equine industry e.g. a riding school, competition yard, livery yard or therapy centre. Successful completion of this programme will allow you to progress onto higher education.
Achieve a merit or above in Level 3 National Extended Certificate Equine Management, grade 4 or above in GCSE English, Mathematics and/or science, and receive a satisfactory reference from course tutor

Level 3 Extended Diploma Equine Management
If you want to gain an understanding of the business behind the equine industry, this non riding course is for you. Study equine-related business modules and apply the theory as you take part in practical sessions on our equine yard – we have loan horses for you to work with. You’ll spend one day a week in industry to gain first-hand commercial experience. You'll also be involved in weekend show duties. Be ready to pursue a wide range of careers within an equine or business environment.
Level 3 Foundation Diploma Equine Management
This course allows you to gain detailed academic knowledge and an in-depth understanding of horse management and business through both theory-based and practical sessions. You'll study both pure business and equine-related units, giving you the specialised knowledge needed to pursue a range of careers.
Level 3 Extended Diploma Equine Management (Science)
If you're passionate about equine science and want to learn about the structure, diet, behaviour and rehabilitation of horses, then this course is ideal for you. You'll develop a strong scientific knowledge base as you study three core science modules on this course. You'll gain an academic understanding of equine science and hone your applied skills during a four-week block of external work experience during each year of your course.
