"Hartpury holds a very special place in both mine and Dan’s hearts – not only as somewhere that set us up for the careers that we’re proud to have today – but as the place where we had some of the best times of our (younger!) lives."
"My lecturers at Hartpury are always willing to help, and will always give little tips which I can use for the next time I coach and that will help me achieve my ambition of becoming a coach or teacher."
"I love studying the theory of sport. My Sports Nutrition module was particularly interesting – I could apply the theory to my game preparation and recovery."
"Having access to so many coaching opportunities at Hartpury has prepared me for my dream career as a further education lecturer."
My advice to anybody looking to forge a career in agriculture would be to ask questions and absorb as much information as possible, to not be afraid to change your mind, and above all have a strong will to work.
Hartpury has created an excellent sports environment to be involved in – it’s so professional. The level of coaching we receive and the facilities that we have access to are outstanding.
"I love that at Hartpury you’re not just learning in the classroom. I gained a lot of skills and confidence through the practical sessions and work placement. I took the opportunity to go on a placement year and work on a farm. I developed lots of different skills and new ideas that I took home to our family farm."
"Aside from the outstanding facilities at Hartpury, the opportunity to gain practical shoot experience by acting as a beater on shoots was a big draw."
I learned so many useful skills on my course, like looking after the health and welfare of animals, the importance of routine treatments to livestock, grading of sheep and beef for market, plus relevant legislation and health and safety.
