Coming to Hartpury 2024

We have lots of exciting things planned to help you to settle in at Hartpury University. Your first week will include your academic induction, as well as plenty of fun Freshers' activities.

University Students Freshers Fair

  • Residential BBQ: Bring your own food to cook on the grill with your new house mates. We’ll light the BBQ coals at around 5pm so they’re ready to cook on straight after your welcome residential talks.
  • Meet Ralph (our Resident therapy dog), Log cabin near Legends, 8pm: Join us for tea and cake as you meet our favourite therapy dog, Ralph.
  • Welcome party, Legends student bar, 8.30pm: Live music and drinks deals.

  • Open air cinema outside Hartpury House, 8.30pm: Bring your blankets and snacks, we'll provide the hot chocolate.
  • Silent Disco, Legends, 9pm: Grab some headphones and hit the dancefloor! Get imaginative and bring your own drinking vessel!

  • Wellness Walk with ASC, 1pm: Meet outside ASC building by large display screen. Walking routes are from 10 minutes to 30 minutes long
  • Big Freshers' Quiz, Legends, 8pm: Top prize is a shopping trolley of student essentials. £1 per team member.
  • Firepit, outside Hartpury House, 8.30pm: Wrap up warm and join us for some s'mores and hot chocolate around the firepit!

  • Freshers' Fair, in and around Legends, 11am: Explore our clubs and societies
  • Crafts & chats with ASC, SU Loft, 1.30pm: Join our ASC team at your SU Loft to talk and create.
  • Glos Vegas, Gloucester: Pub crawl through the best student venues. Buy your exclusive 'Glos Vegas' t-shirt for £5 from Legends – available from Sunday through to Wednesday 6pm (payment via cash and card). Keep an eye on Legends socials for timings.
  • Dogs and Donuts, Uni Study Lounge, 8pm: In case you missed meeting Ralph on Sunday, or loved it so much you want to do it again.

  • WellFest!, equine centre, 10am-3pm: Find out about support with our relaxed festival-style event at the equine centre. Click here to find out more.
  • Board games night in, SU Loft, 6.30pm: Unwind and meet new friends in a relaxed environment

  • Brunch: free pastries and hot drinks, SU Loft, 11.30am-2pm: Start your weekend right and join the SU for free pastries and bottomless hot drinks in the Loft!
  • Hartpury History Tour, Hartpury House, 6pm: Join Rich Whincup on his Mystery, Murder and Legends history tour of Hartpury! We’ll start at Hartpury House…
  • Games night and Beer Pong, Legends 6.30pm: Could you become our next champion?

  • BYO Picnic and Games, Hartpury House, TBC:Pack some snacks and head to Hartpury House for a picnic. We’ll be setting up volleyball and badminton – get stuck in and meet new friends!

  • Ikea, Bristol: Pick up some home comforts to make your room your own. £5 per person.

Welcome Week

You'll have your academic induction with your Programme Manager and classmates, and take part in subject sessions and practical activities. Depending on your course, you'll be getting stuck in on our campus farm, equine yard, animal collection, or using our sports facilities or labs for a taste of things to come.

Once you're here and have joined your first session, your Programme Manager will let you know what you’re doing for the rest of your Welcome Week.

Your Welcome Week enrolment page includes;

  • Your course and Welcome Week timetable What to look forward to during Welcome and Freshers’ Week
  • Any kit and equipment you’ll need, including delivery information for international students
  • Recommended reading lists, to familiarise yourself with key themes
