Driving Gloucestershire’s productivity

Agri-Tech centre

Our world population is growing fast, with agriculture being among the major industries that needs to change to support this rise. As a specialist land-based university and college, our role is important. Our new Hartpury Agri-Tech centre will help to create a sustainable future for the next generations.

Our global population is increasing by approximately 83 million people each year*. This big growth results in increased demand for food, which puts immense pressure on our planet and the agricultural industry. Education about new technologies is needed to secure global food supply. Educational institutions, farming businesses, counties and countries must play a part.

Our Hartpury Agri-Tech centre, developed in partnership with GFirst LEP, will be connecting the latest smart farming technologies with Gloucestershire’s farming community. We will improve productivity and profitability in the county and provide students with the opportunity to connect with industry leaders.

Complementing existing agricultural projects in Gloucestershire, our centre will include unique demonstration, bio-security and livestock areas to showcase the potential of smart farming.

You, as future agriculturalists, are critical to our global mission. You will drive innovation through new ideas that contribute to agricultural business decisions across the county. You'll be doing your bit to feed Gloucestershire, the UK and, ultimately, the world.
