OSAP Funding Guide

Hartpury University is approved to support eligible Ontario students through the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP).

OSAP provides government-funded financial support in the form of loans (which must be repaid) and grants (which do not need to be repaid). Funding is assessed individually based on factors such as tuition fees, family income, and personal circumstances.

Use the OSAP Aid Estimator to get an estimate of the funding you may be eligible to receive before you apply.

When should I apply for a Student Provincial Grant or Loan?

You can apply for OSAP funding after you have applied for your degree programme at Hartpury University and received an offer letter with confirmation of your tuition and any automatic scholarships awarded to you.

OSAP applications are completed online and should be submitted as early as possible.

Who manages OSAP loans?

OSAP loans are administered by the National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC). Hartpury University is only responsible for confirming student status and certification.

The NSLSC is responsible for:

  • Releasing OSAP funding once enrolment is confirmed
  • Managing your loan balance
  • Handling repayment after you complete or leave your studies

Students are encouraged to create an online NSLSC account to monitor their funding and repayment details. The NSLSC also offers online loan repayment webinars.

How and when will I receive my funding?

OSAP application processing typically takes 6-8 weeks, depending on the time of year.

Please note:

  • Funding is released only after you have arrived at Hartpury and your enrolment has been confirmed by Hartpury University
  • If all documentation is submitted by mid-July, initial payments are usually released in September or October
  • Some OSAP funding may be paid directly to Hartpury University to cover tuition fees

Once enrolment is confirmed, the Ministry may automatically send part or all of your funding directly to the University. These payments will be visible in your OSAP account. Any remaining balance will be issued to you by direct deposit or cheque, depending on your OSAP setup.

If I apply for OSAP, do I need to pay a tuition deposit to Hartpury University?
