Whether you are an aspiring Great Britain rower, professional rowing coach, or you simply want to develop your rowing alongside your academic studies, our rowing programme could help you achieve your goals.
Our programme is a unique joint initiative with the GB Rowing Team ‘Start’ Programme and Gloucester Rowing Club, aimed at identifying and developing the next generation of Olympic rowers.
Athletes and coaches at Hartpury benefit from excellent land-based training facilities alongside water-based training at Gloucester Rowing Club’s new £1.6million boathouse, and access to support via British Rowing’s World Class Start talent identification programme.
We have an outstanding track record of developing rowers, as well as preparing them for a career beyond their sport. Our students have represented Great Britain at junior and U23 level. And our alumni have raced for their country at under U23 and Senior World Championships. Our crews have enjoyed domestic success with national title wins at Henley Royal Regatta, National Schools, and the British Championships.
You’ll learn from some of the best coaches at Hartpury. We’ll support you to achieve excellence in your academic studies and your rowing. We design your timetable with you in mind, meaning you'll get the best from your qualification and your training. As well as weekly sessions from dedicated coaches, you’ll have opportunities to compete at the highest levels of university sport.
You’ll benefit from excellent land training facilities at Hartpury alongside water-based training at Gloucester Rowing Club’s new £1.6million boathouse. This sits alongside one of the best stretches of rowing water in the UK with 50 kilometres of sheltered, uninterrupted training water. You’ll also benefit from access to our performance services. Strength and conditioning coaches, physiotherapists, and nutritionists to lifestyle management and game analysis will keep you performing at your peak.
Our Sports Academy facilities give you access to treatment suites, as well as human performance and biomechanics labs.
I had no previous experience in rowing and the academy was great, providing strength and conditioning, physio support and top class coaching. Also, through the GB ‘Start’ Programme, I had regular opportunities to test myself against more experienced rowers, which really helped to push me on.”
Our students go on to change the lives of professional athletes, as well as the people involved in community and school sports. They also graduate with valuable skills to succeed in a range of different careers.
We're home to top-level coaches, sport and exercise scientists, nutritionists, conditioners, medics and athletes, across 10 Sports Academy programmes, as well as our student-led rugby team, Hartpury RFC. Our Sports Academies have produced over 200 international sports stars over recent years.
Our outstanding sports facilities mean you can develop your skills as an industry specialist would.
You’ll benefit from some of the UK’s most advanced sports technology including an anti-gravity treadmill, altitude chamber, high-tech 3D tracking cameras and high-resolution digital mirrors.
