Andries helped his teams to the EDF Junior & Senior Vases, represented England Students and was a successful member of the Gloucester Academy. In 2009, he made the move to Cardiff Blues RFC and qualified through residency to play for Wales during his time there. In 2012, he was given the captaincy at Cardiff Arms Park. In the following year, the powerful back-rower was picked for the Welsh squad for the first time ahead of the Six Nations before making his debut in a 22-18 win against Japan in June.
Andries reflected on his time at Hartpury University and said: ”If you’re serious about rugby, Hartpury University is the only place to come and study; the rugby specific facilities are incredible, as is the standard of coaching. My most memorable rugby achievement in 2008 included playing for England Students against France and being a member of the Hartpury Squad that won the BUSA Championship at Twickenham – the whole student experience has been awesome.”
