Work Placement at the International Centre for Birds of Prey

What I did on my work placement

I went to the International Centre for Birds of Prey for my work placement. I’d never worked with birds before and the whole experience was great. I got to fly the birds, feed them on my fist and put them away at the end of the day. Even though it was hard work in the mornings; cleaning out the aviaries, washing and doing baths and food trays, by the afternoon, you get the rewarding job of the bird handling.

Career ambitions

On my work placement, I fell in love with working with birds. Before I thought I’d get a job with dogs or work in a zoo. Being involved with the centre and the experience days they do gave me a better idea of some of the jobs out there. I’d now like to do some LANTRA courses and get into falconry.
