Hartpury is a great place to be if you have a passion for animals. There’s so many opportunities on offer to suit different interests. I’m a dog person but being able to experience lots of different things, from the Equine Therapy Centre to the farm, was great for my development.

What I loved about Hartpury

All of the staff are extremely friendly, which was really important for me. I could talk to them as real people. They’re passionate and knowledgeable about their subject as well, which was great, it made me want to learn more. It’s built me up as a person tremendously.

I felt comfortable at Hartpury, and that was helpful. I felt supported and that gave me the confidence to do things, like pushing myself to do a masters. I was so passionate about the subject and I loved what I learnt on the degree that I just wanted to know more.

What I love about my job

Being able to train a dog and then training a person to be with that dog is my dream job. Guide dogs give their owners the freedom and comfort that they can go about their lives. You see a real difference in people; they seem much happier and more comfortable. I feel like I’m making a difference and that’s a really nice feeling.
