Qualification & subject:
Undergraduate BSc (Hons) Agriculture
Profession:
Agronomist, Agrii

There’s so much that goes on behind the scenes in agriculture that people just don’t see. It’s much more than just working on a farm. Companies all over the world are invested in finding the next best thing in agriculture, and they’re looking for talented agriculture graduates to help them.

Following my passion

I work for Agrii, one of the leading agronomy companies in the UK. I work alongside farmers to help them increase yields with the highest level of efficiency. It’s a hands-on job but it’s definitely backed up by science – which I learned at Hartpury.

You don’t have to come from an agricultural background to work in the sector either – I didn’t. The lecturers at Hartpury supported me to follow my passion and now I’m doing something I enjoy.

The setup at Hartpury was perfect for my interests. Thanks to the availability of the farm on site, I was able to take what I learnt in the classroom and walk out into the field to put it into practice.

My Hartpury experience

The lecturers were the ones who really sold it for me. They’ve got years of industry experience and are always up to date with the latest goings on. All of them were keen to expose us to the industry, particularly through guest speakers, conferences and events. It was exactly what I was looking for.

It wasn’t until I was at Hartpury that I realised how many jobs there are in agriculture. The course gave me so many opportunities to develop and ultimately put me in contact with my employer.
