Course Overview

On this half day course, you will learn to groom your own dog and all about the different equipment you will need. We will teach you to groom a basic body clip, shape your dogs feet and tail as well as putting in a basic head shape.

Over the duration of the course you will learn:

  • An introduction to home grooming equipment
  • Bathing & drying
  • Nails, ears & pads
  • The importance of thorough health checking
  • Basic clipping (one length all over)
  • Scissoring feet
  • Head, ear and eye trimming

You will take home a comprehensive guide on what we have covered and what equipment you have used.

Requirements

You will need to bring along your own dog for this course, and your dog needs to:

  • Be used to and comfortable with grooming
  • Not have excessive matting
  • Have enough coat growth – ideally 6-8 weeks since their last groom

This one day course would not be suitable for young puppies due to is duration.

Breeds:

  • Poodles and crosses – cockapoos, labradoodles, cavapoos, goldendoodles etc
  • Bichons and crosses – Cavachons, shihchons
  • Terriers that require clipping

This course doesn’t teach hand stripping or breed standard grooming.

The course runs on select days from 9am-1pm.

All course fees must be paid at least 4 weeks prior to the first day of the course. If we have not received full payment of course fees your place on the course cannot be guaranteed.

If you need to cancel your course, Hartpury College will refund tuition fees at the following rates: 

  1. Up to 30 days prior to the course start date – full refund of tuition fees*
  2. Between 30 and 14 days prior to the course start date –50% refund of tuition fees*
  3. Less than 14 days’ notice – no refund of tuition fees

*an administrative fee of £50 will be deducted from the refund value.

If Hartpury postpones or cancels the course and is unable to provide an alternative date(s) any tuition fees will be refunded in full.
