It was fantastic being able to tailor my degree by choosing which modules suited my interests and ambitions and my tutors not only kindled my interest in conservation, but pushed me to aim high and achieve - both in my degree and with life goals.
While I was putting together my dissertation project, I had to spend a lot of time at the Hartpury dairy unit swabbing the cows and the team on the unit were massively helpful with my research. They even asked me to work part-time at the dairy and I absolutely loved it.

Hartpury has everything you need on site – I loved the practical sessions with the different animals and volunteering with lambing at the farm.

I felt a completely different connection when visiting Hartpury compared to other universities, as a specialised university, you’re more than just a number.

I always wanted to be a vet but I wasn’t aware of the alternative career paths. I was offered a session in canine hydrotherapy as part of a study week in my first year and volunteered at the Cotswold Dog Spa while studying for my degree. I secured a job there after graduation.
It's amazing that Hartpury offers the opportunity to work with different species as part of the degree. As part of the course, I did a 40-hour internship in the Animal Collection. I’ve been getting hands on with exotic animals – meerkats, skunks and prairie dogs.
