I can’t believe how quickly I’ve developed during my time here, the support Hartpury gave me throughout it all – academically and personally – set me on the road back to health.
In terms of an effective learning environment, I believe Hartpury is unrivalled. The facilities and support that’s available at Hartpury are more exceptional than professional environments that I have been a part of.
The environment at Hartpury made me want to work hard and learn more. It gives you a great degree but also really values your development as a student athlete.
The course itself was fantastic, I had such a keen interest in business and such a passion for sport, so being able to contribute the two and do a practical business degree was perfect. The lecturers really cared about you and how well you did, and made it so much easier for you.
The provision for sports analysis at Hartpury is massive. They’re at the cutting edge of performance sport, producing world-class athletes in different disciplines. It’s a great environment to learn in, you’re surrounded by opportunities to gain the applied experience that employers are looking for.

The opportunity to play football at a good level was one of the attractions of Hartpury, but not only that, it was important to me that the courses were specific to what I needed at the time, and that’s stood me in really good stead moving forward.
It was challenging doing a degree as I wasn’t able to get to that many lectures but my tutors always made time for me and arranged tutorials that fitted around my sporting schedule.
Hartpury's a unique university and I believed it would provide me with the best academic resources and be a great place to study and compete in sports.
The foundation year was taught at a great pace, engaging and offered me a lot of opportunities. It improved my organisation, writing, study and reading skills as well as giving me the encouragement to ask for help when needed.
Ben studies BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning at Hartpury and is currently on his placement year, working as a coach for U16s and U18s at Gloucester Rugby.
Jayne moved from Canada to pursue her dream of coaching at Hartpury University, for the prospect of playing Premiership Women’s Rugby, and to study a Master’s in Sports Coaching. Alongside her studies, Jayne coaches the Women’s Rugby 2’s squad and students at Wycliffe College.
I had such a strong support network. It was the flexibility of people that don’t have to, but are willing to go out of their way for your benefit, that was the best thing about Hartpury for me. You feel like they actually care, which is such a rare thing. It helped me to grow as a person, as well as a student.
Seeing Hartpury, it was clear to me that the facilities are second to none. I was immediately sold after speaking to the programme leader and working with Hartpury University FC. I haven't looked back.
