Postgraduate Sport Hartpury University

Partner with an MRes Sport Science student

Collaborate on a bespoke research project to solve real-world performance challenges.

The MRes in Sport Science at Hartpury University blends advanced research training with practical application, enabling learners to develop evidence-based solutions to genuine performance and practice-based problems. As part of the programme, each student completes an original independent research project designed to generate actionable insights for organisations like yours.

This is your opportunity to collaborate with a postgraduate researcher to drive innovation, enhance practice, and access meaningful support throughout the academic year.

How it works

Our collaboration model is simple, flexible, and designed to meet the needs of industry partners:

  • Identify a challenge
You’ll work with the learner and their academic supervisor to pinpoint a specific issue or question within your practice that would benefit from in-depth investigation.

  • Co-create the project
Together, you’ll help shape a novel research project aligned with your priorities, ensuring the outcomes are directly relevant to your organisation.

  • Receive ongoing support
From September to May, the learner will dedicate around 15 hours per week to conducting the research, gathering data, analysing findings, and producing recommendations tailored to your context.

This structure provides you with sustained, high-quality support while contributing to the professional development of a future sport science expert.

Make use of the R&D tax relief scheme

The Research and Development (R&D) tax relief scheme supports companies that work on innovative projects in science and technology. Research by students carried out at universities is permissible within the scheme. If you would like more information about the R&D tax relief scheme, or guidance on how to access support, Hartpury University has worked with Xeinadin to develop a helpful guidance document.
